CTA 2017 AGM

The CTA Annual General Meeting is on this Sunday 26th February 2017 at 11am at The Rise, 28 Eighth Ave (Corner of Guildford Road), Maylands. Members will have received an email with details on the agenda papers and documents for the AGM at the bottom of the email. Please take the time to read the papers before the meeting and think about:

  • nominations for CTA committee positions
  • voting for the 2016 single day and multi day rides of the year
  • nominations for the CTA 2016 Cycle Tourist of the Year
  • putting your name down to lead a ride in 2017

All the CTA committee positions for 2017 are vacant but the following are a priority:

  • President
  • Rides Coordinator
  • Tours Coordinator

Most of the current committee members have been on the committee for many years and the committee would like to see some new faces on the committee for 2017. New people bring fresh ideas, vision and energy. We have received some nominations for 2017, but please consider nominating for one of the positions or approaching someone else who you think would be good to go on the committee.

At the AGM we will be voting for the 2016 Single Day Ride of the Year and Multi Day Ride of the Year. Please take a look at the list of all the 2016 single day and multi day rides (Attachments 3a and 3b) and mark your preferred rides.

At the AGM we will also be voting for the 2016 Cycle Tourist of the Year. We currently have two nominations (see agenda papers). If you would like to nominate anyone else for this award, please send an email to before the AGM with your nomination and the reasons for the nomination.

Don’t forget that you need to be a member to be able to vote at the AGM. So if you have forgotten to send in your membership form for 2017 you will need to do so in the next few days.

Please also put your name down to lead a single or multi-day ride in 2017. Attachment 4 has a list of all the currently arranged rides for 2017 and the gaps in the ride calendar we still need to fill. Please let us know at the AGM which ride slot you would like to fill.

Finally if you have any items you would like to add to the agenda for the AGM please contact myself as President or Roy Stone as Secretary or via email at

I look forward to seeing you at the AGM.

Best wishes

2017 On Your Bike - Loaves to Fishes Tour

Saturday 2 September to Sunday 10 September 2017

This epic tour of Biblical proportions starts from the only monastic township in Australia, the Benedictine Community of New Norcia.

Cycling northward on quieter, sealed rural roads through the State’s central agricultural corridor, the tour will wend its way through Western Australia's Wildflower Country to our final destination at the twin fishing towns of Dongara and Port Denison, one of the jewels of the stunning Coral Coast on the sparking waters of the Indian Ocean.

Participants will have the opportunity to see expansive cereal and livestock farms, wildflowers and visit some of the smaller country towns that once were the mainstay of the old inland road route to Geraldton and beyond.

With participation limited to a maximum of 130 riders, please put the tour dates in your diary and watch out for the release of the Tour Brochure and Entry Form in the first quarter of 2017.

For more details contact the Tour Leader, Trevor Knox, on either (08) 9345 1048 or 040 202 9608.

All the best for the Festive Season

Fellow CTA members. All the best for the festive season and may it bring you joy, happiness, peace - and some riding. Be sure to check out the Rides Calendar for rides over the next few months. As well as the normal Sunday rides, there are evening and mid-week rides to keep us on our bikes.
